The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said concerning the martyrs of Uhud, "These are the ones for whom I bear witness."Abu Bakr Siddiq said, "Messenger of Allah, are we not their brothers? We accepted Islam as they accepted it, and we fought as they fought."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes indeed, but I do not know what you will do after I am gone."Abu Bakr wept, and then wept again, and said, "Will we really remain behind after you?"
و حدثني عن مالك
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لشهداء أحد هؤلاء أشهد عليهم فقال أبو بكر الصديق ألسنا يا رسول الله بإخوانهم أسلمنا كما أسلموا وجاهدنا كما جاهدوا فقال رسول الله ﷺ بلى ولكن لا أدري ما تحدثون بعدي فبكى أبو بكر ثم بكى ثم قال أئنا لكائنون بعدك
