Whenever the stealing of spoils appears among a people, Allah casts terror into their hearts. Whenever adultery spreads among a people, death becomes widespread among them. Whenever a people give short measure and weight, their provision is cut off from them. Whenever a people judge by something other than the truth, bloodshed spreads among them. And whenever a people break their covenant treacherously, Allah gives their enemy power over them.
و حدثني عن مالك عن يحيى بن سعيد أنه بلغه
ما ظهر الغلول في قوم قط إلا ألقي في قلوبهم الرعب ولا فشا الزنا في قوم قط إلا كثر فيهم الموت ولا نقص قوم المكيال والميزان إلا قطع عنهم الرزق ولا حكم قوم بغير الحق إلا فشا فيهم الدم ولا ختر قوم بالعهد إلا سلط الله عليهم العدو
