Sourcing, graded hasan. Ibn Khuzayma narrated it, hadith no. 1866, from the hadith of Abu Asim Dahhak bin Makhlad, with this wording. Abbad is truthful (sadooq), accused of holding the view of Qadar, used to practice tadlis, and his memory declined toward the end of his life (Taqrib). However, he explicitly stated that he heard the hadith directly, and his hadith has corroborating narrations. See the two preceding hadiths and the one that follows.
