Ibn Abbas ordered the muezzin to give the call to prayer on a Friday that happened to be a rainy day. The muezzin called out, "Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."Then Ibn Abbas said to him, "Announce to the people that they should pray in their homes."The people said to him, "What is this that you have done?"He replied, "Someone better than I has done this. Would you have me bring the people out of their homes so they come to me wading through mud up to their knees?"
