Abu Humayd reported,

They said, "Messenger of Allah, we have been commanded to send blessings upon you. How should we send blessings upon you?"He replied, "Say, 'O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, his wives, and his offspring, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim, and bestow Your favor upon Muhammad, his wives, and his offspring, as You bestowed Your favor upon the family of Ibrahim throughout the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.'"

أنهم قالوا يا رسول الله أمرنا بالصلاة عليك فكيف نصلي عليك فقال قولوا اللهم صل على محمد وأزواجه وذريته كما صليت على إبراهيم وبارك على محمد وأزواجه وذريته كما باركت على آل إبراهيم في العالمين إنك حميد مجيد
