I used to suffer prolonged and heavy bleeding outside my normal menstrual period. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ to ask him about it and to inform him. I found him at the house of my sister Zaynab.I said, "Messenger of Allah, I have a need to ask of you."He said, "What is it, dear one?"I said, "I suffer prolonged and heavy bleeding which has prevented me from praying and fasting. What do you instruct me to do about it?"He said, "I prescribe for you a wad of cotton, for it will absorb the blood."I said, "It is more than that can hold."Then he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Sharik.

كنت أستحاض حيضة كثيرة طويلة قالت فجئت إلى النبي ﷺ أستفتيه وأخبره قالت فوجدته عند أختي زينب قالت قلت يا رسول الله إن لي إليك حاجة قال وما هي أي هنتاه قلت إني أستحاض حيضة طويلة كبيرة وقد منعتني الصلاة والصوم فما تأمرني فيها قال أنعت لك الكرسف فإنه يذهب الدم قلت هو أكثر فذكر نحو حديث شريك
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in his Sunan, Tahara, chapter on what is reported that a woman with prolonged menstrual bleeding should perform ghusl before every prayer, no. 288, from the hadith of Ibn Aqeel with this wording. Ibn Aqeel is daif, as mentioned previously, no. 390.
