Love the poor, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say in his supplication, "O Allah, let me live poor, let me die poor, and gather me on the Day of Resurrection among the company of the poor."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وعبد الله بن سعيد قالا حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن يزيد بن سنان عن أبي المبارك عن عطاء
أحبوا المساكين فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول في دعائه اللهم أحيني مسكينا وأمتني مسكينا واحشرني في زمرة المساكين
Sourcing. [Its isnad is very daif.] It was reported by Abd bin Humayd in his Muntakhab (folio 1130) from Ibn Abu Shayba, and by Khatib (4/117), through the hadith of Abdullah bin Saeed, through him. Busiri declared it daif. As for Yazid, his status was already discussed (no. 2581), and Abu Mubarak is majhul, as stated in Taqrib. The hadith has corroborating reports, but they are all daif, as I mentioned in my commentary on Sunan Ibn Majah, and whoever graded the hadith sahih on the basis of those corroborations was mistaken.
