Regarding the words of Allah Most High, "And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening..." up to "...and so become one of the wrongdoers" [Anam 6:52], he said:Aqra bin Habis al-Tamimi and Uyayna bin Hisn al-Fazari came and found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sitting with Suhayb, Bilal, Ammar, and Khabab, along with a group of weak believers. When they saw these people around the Prophet ﷺ, they looked down on them. They approached him, took him aside, and said, "We want you to set aside a private session for us so that the Arabs may recognize our distinction. Delegations of Arabs come to you, and we are ashamed for the Arabs to see us with these slaves. So when we come to you, send them away from your presence, and once we have finished, you may sit with them again if you wish."He said, "Yes."They said, "Then write us a document to that effect."He called for a sheet and summoned Ali to write it, while we were sitting in a corner. Then Jibreel descended and said, "And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His Face. Nothing of their account falls upon you, and nothing of your account falls upon them, that you should drive them away and so become one of the wrongdoers" [Anam 6:52].Then he mentioned Aqra bin Habis and Uyayna bin Hisn and said, "And thus We have tried some of them by means of others, so that they may say, 'Are these the ones whom Allah has favored from among us?' Is not Allah most knowing of the grateful?" [Anam 6:53].Then He said, "And when those who believe in Our verses come to you, say, 'Peace be upon you. Your Lord has prescribed mercy upon Himself'" [Anam 6:54].He said, "So we drew close to him until our knees touched his knee. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sit with us, and when he wished to rise, he would rise and leave us. Then Allah revealed, 'And keep yourself patient with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His Face. And let not your eyes pass beyond them'" [Kahf 18:28], meaning, do not sit with the nobles, "desiring the adornment of the worldly life. And do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance", meaning Uyayna and Aqra, "and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever in neglect" [Kahf 18:28].He said, "Meaning ruin," referring to the affair of Uyayna and Aqra. Then He set forth for them the parable of the two men and the parable of the life of this world.Khabab said, "We used to sit with the Prophet ﷺ, and when the time came for him to rise, we would get up and leave him so that he could stand."

[Its chain is daif]. Ibn Abu Hatim narrated it in his Tafsir, 4/1297, 1298, no. 7331, from Muhammad Qattan, through this route. Ibn Jareer Tabari also narrated it in his Tafsir, 7/127, 128, from the hadith of Ahmad bin Nuskha, 2/139, and from Amr Anqazi, through this route, and Busiri graded it sahih. Ibn Kathir said in his Tafsir, 3/255, "This is a gharib hadith, for this verse is Makkan, while Aqra bin Habis and Uyayna only accepted Islam long after the Hijrah."I say, Abul-Kanud and his student were not deemed reliable by anyone except Ibn Hibban.
