The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Belief in evil omens is a form of shirk, and there is none among us but experiences something of it, yet Allah removes it through reliance upon Him."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن سلمة عن عيسى بن عاصم عن زر
قال رسول الله ﷺ الطيرة شرك وما منا إلا ولكن الله يذهبه بالتوكل
[Sahih] Reported by Abu Dawud, Medicine, Chapter on Omens, h: 3910, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri with this wording. Tirmidhi said, j: 1614, hasan sahih. It is also in Musannaf Ibn Abu Shayba: 39/9, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, h: 1427, as did Hakim: 1/18. Shuba also reported it from Salama bin Kuhayl with this wording (Bayhaqi: 8/1/(139)).
