Whenever fever struck his family, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would order broth to be prepared. She said that he used to say, "It strengthens the heart of the grieving and clears the heart of the sick, just as one of you washes the dirt from her face with water."

كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا أخذ أهله الوعك أمر بالحساء قالت وكان يقول إنه ليرتو فؤاد الحزين ويسرو عن فؤاد السقيم كما تسرو إحداكن الوسخ عن وجهها بالماء
[Its isnad is hasan] Reported by Tirmidhi, Medicine, chapter on what a sick person should be fed, hadith no. 2039, from the hadith of Ismail, and he said, hasan sahih. Umm Muhammad bin Saaib is majhul (unknown). Hakim graded it sahih (4/117), and Dhahabi agreed with him.
