The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to carefully examine the eye and the ear.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن سلمة بن كهيل عن حجية بن عدي
أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ أن نستشرف العين والأذن
Its chain of transmission is hasan. It was narrated by Tirmidhi, in the Book of Sacrifices, Chapter: On sacrificing an animal with a broken horn or ear, hadith no. 1503, from the hadith of Salama, and he said, "hasan sahih," and Hakim graded it sahih.
