The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade sacrificing an animal whose ear had been cut from the front, or from the back, or split lengthwise, or pierced with a hole, or had its ear cut off entirely.

نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن يضحى بمقابلة أو مدابرة أو شرقاء أو خرقاء أو جدعاء
[Hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices, chapter on what is disliked in sacrificial animals, hadith no. 2804, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq, with this wording. Tirmidhi said, hadith no. 1498, hasan sahih. Hakim graded it sahih, 4/224, as did Dhahabi. This hadith has a hasan corroborating narration, see the following hadith.
