Zuayb al-Khuzai reported that the Prophet ﷺ used to send sacrificial camels with him, saying, "If any of them becomes injured and you fear it will die, slaughter it, then dip its sandal in its blood, then strike its flank, and neither you nor any of your companions should eat from it."

أن ذؤيبا الخزاعي حدث أن النبي ﷺ كان يبعث معه بالبدن ثم يقول إذا عطب منها شيء فخشيت عليه موتا فانحرها ثم اغمس نعلها في دمها ثم اضرب صفحتها ولا تطعم منها أنت ولا أحد من أهل رفقتك
