The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Safiyyah, and we said, "She has begun her menstrual period."He said, "May she be wounded and have her hair shaved. I think she will detain us."I said, "Messenger of Allah, she already performed the tawaf on the Day of Sacrifice."He said, "Then no, in that case. Tell her she may depart."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وعلي بن محمد قالا حدثنا أبو معاوية حدثنا الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن الأسود
ذكر رسول الله ﷺ صفية فقلنا قد حاضت فقال عقرى حلقى ما أراها إلا حابستنا فقلت يا رسول الله إنها قد طافت يوم النحر قال فلا إذن مروها فلتنفر
Bukhari narrated it in the book of Hajj, chapter on departing by night from Muhassab, hadith no. 1771, from the hadith of Amash with this wording. Muslim also narrated it in the book of Hajj, chapter on the obligation of the farewell tawaf and its exemption for a menstruating woman, hadith no. 387/1211, after hadith no. 1328, from Ibn Abu Shayba with this wording.
