We entered the state of ihram with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Hajj alone, not combining it with Umra. We arrived in Mecca on the fourth night of Dhu al-Hijja. After we performed tawaf around the Kaaba and saiy between Safa and Marwa, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to convert it into an Umra and to release ourselves from ihram, including the restriction on intimacy with women.We said among ourselves, "There are only five days between us and Arafat, and we are to set out for it with our private parts dripping with semen?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am the most righteous and truthful among you, and were it not for the sacrificial animal, I myself would have released from ihram."Suraqa bin Malik then asked, "Is this enjoyment of ours for this year only, or forever?"He replied, "No, it is forever and ever."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن إبراهيم الدمشقي حدثنا الوليد بن مسلم حدثنا الأوزاعي عن عطاء
أهللنا مع رسول الله ﷺ بالحج خالصا لا نخلطه بعمرة فقدمنا مكة لأربع ليال خلون من ذي الحجة فلما طفنا بالبيت وسعينا بين الصفا والمروة أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ أن نجعلها عمرة وأن نحل إلى النساء فقلنا ما بيننا ليس بيننا وبين عرفة إلا خمس فنخرج إليها ومذاكيرنا تقطر منيا فقال رسول الله ﷺ إني لأبركم وأصدقكم ولولا الهدي لأحللت فقال سراقة بن مالك أمتعتنا هذه لعامنا هذا أم لأبد فقال لا بل لأبد الأبد
Narrated by Bukhari, Partnership, chapter on sharing in sacrificial animals and camels, etc., no. 2505, 2506, and Muslim, Hajj, chapter explaining the forms of ihram and that it is permissible to perform hajj as ifrad, tamattu, or qiran, Uzai (Abu Dawud, no. 1787)... etc., no. 1216, from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj through him, and he heard it from him.
