The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray during the night two rakats at a time, then he would finish and use the tooth-stick.
حدثنا سفيان بن وكيع حدثنا عثام بن علي عن الأعمش عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن سعيد بن جبير
كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي بالليل ركعتين ركعتين ثم ينصرف فيستاك
Sourcing, [its chain is daif]. Ahmad narrated it, 1/218, from Uthaam, through him, and Nasai, in his Kubra, noted that Sulayman Amash narrated it using the "an" formula, as mentioned earlier, page 178, and it will come again. Hakim graded it sahih, 1/145, and Dhahabi agreed, page 1322.
