I came to the Prophet ﷺ among a group of women to give him our pledge of allegiance. He said to us, "In what you are able and capable of." Then he added, "I do not shake hands with women."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة أنه سمع محمد بن المنكدر قال سمعت
جئت النبي ﷺ في نسوة نبايعه فقال لنا فيما استطعتن وأطقتن إني لا أصافح النساء
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Tirmidhi transmitted it in Sair, chapter on what was said regarding the pledge of allegiance of women, hadith 1597, from the hadith of Sufyan, with this wording, and he said, hasan sahih. Ibn Hibban also graded it sahih (Mawarid), hadith 14. It is also found in Muwatta (Yahya) 2/982, from Ibn Munkadir, with this wording.
