Ayesha reported,

When the believing women migrated to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, they were tested by the words of Allah, "Prophet, when the believing women come to you to pledge their allegiance to you" [Mumtahanah 60:12], to the end of the verse.Ayesha said, "Whichever of the believing women acknowledged this had accepted the test." When they affirmed this with their own words, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say to them, "Go, for I have accepted your pledge." By Allah, the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never touched the hand of any woman. He would only take their pledge through speech.Ayesha said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not require of women anything beyond what Allah commanded him, and the palm of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never touched the palm of any woman. When he took their pledge, he would say to them, 'I have accepted your pledge,' speaking only with words."

حدثنا أحمد بن عمرو بن السرح المصري حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب قال أخبرني يونس عن ابن شهاب أخبرني عروة بن الزبير أن

عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ قالت

كانت المؤمنات إذا هاجرن إلى رسول الله ﷺ يمتحن بقول الله {يا أيها النبي إذا جاءك المؤمنات يبايعنك} إلى آخر الآية قالت عائشة فمن أقر بها من المؤمنات فقد أقر بالمحنة فكان رسول الله ﷺ إذا أقررن بذلك من قولهن قال لهن رسول الله ﷺ انطلقن فقد بايعتكن لا والله ما مست يد رسول الله ﷺ يد امرأة قط غير أنه يبايعهن بالكلام قالت عائشة والله ما أخذ رسول الله ﷺ على النساء إلا ما أمره الله ولا مست كف رسول الله ﷺ كف امرأة قط وكان يقول لهن إذا أخذ عليهن قد بايعتكن كلاما
