"There is no granting of extra spoils after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Muslims, their strong return what they have to their weak."Raja said, "I heard Sulayman bin Musa say to him, 'Makhul narrated to me from Habib bin Maslama that the Prophet ﷺ granted a quarter as extra spoils on the outward march and a third on the return.'"Amr said, "I narrate to you from my father, from my grandfather, and you narrate to me from Makhul?"

Sourcing (A) [Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Ibn Hibban narrated it in Mawarid, no. 1672, from the hadith of Raja, transmitted as mursal, and Busiri graded it hasan.Sourcing (B) [Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Jihad, chapter on those who said the fifth comes before the additional share, no. 2750, from the hadith of Sulayman, transmitted at length. Ibn Hibban, no. 1672, Hakim, 2/133, and Dhahabi graded it sahih.Makhul is trustworthy, a leading authority, and his hadith is sahih according to the more correct view, when he explicitly states that he heard directly.
