I arrived in Medina and saw the Prophet ﷺ standing on the pulpit, with Bilal standing before him girded with a sword, and there was a black banner.I asked, "Who is this?"They replied, "This is Amr bin As, who has just returned from a military expedition."
[Hasan] Ahmad narrated it, 3/481, from Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, with this wording, and Busiri graded it sahih. Tirmidhi also narrated it, in the tafsir of Surah Dhariyat, hadith no. 3274, and Nasai narrated it in Sunan al-Kubra, through the route of Sallam bin Sulayman the grammarian, Abu Mundhir, from Asim bin Abu Najud, from Abu Waail, from Harith Bakri, with this wording, with an addition from Abu Waail. Its isnad is hasan, and this is the more correct view.
