I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting from the pulpit, "And prepare against them whatever force you are able to muster" [Anfal 8:60]. He then said, "Indeed, the force is archery," repeating it three times.
حدثنا يونس بن عبد الأعلى أنبأنا عبد الله بن وهب أخبرني عمرو بن الحارث عن أبي علي الهمداني أنه سمع
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقرأ على المنبر {وأعدوا لهم ما استطعتم من قوة} ألا وإن القوة الرمي ثلاث مرات
Muslim narrated it in "The Book of Leadership," chapter "The Virtue of Archery, Encouragement to Practice It, and Condemnation of One Who Learns It Then Forgets It," hadith no. 1917, from the hadith of Ibn Wahb, with this wording.
