A man came to Abu Musa Ashari and Salman bin Rabia al-Bahili and asked them about the inheritance of a daughter, a son's daughter, and a full sister. They said, "The daughter receives half, and what remains goes to the sister. Go to Ibn Masud, and he will agree with us."The man went to Ibn Masud, asked him, and told him what the other two had said.Abdullah said, "If I ruled that way, I would be misguided and not among the rightly guided. I will judge by what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged. The daughter receives half, the son's daughter receives a sixth to complete two-thirds, and what remains goes to the sister."
