The wife of Saad bin Rabi came with the two daughters of Saad to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, these are the two daughters of Saad. He was killed alongside you on the day of Uhud, and their uncle has taken everything their father left behind. A woman is not married except for her wealth."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent until the verse of inheritance was revealed. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned the brother of Saad bin Rabi and said, "Give the two daughters of Saad two-thirds of his wealth, give his wife one-eighth, and take what remains for yourself."
[Its chain is daif]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Inheritance, Chapter on What Has Been Said Regarding the Inheritance of Direct Descendants, no. 2891, from the hadith of Ibn Aqeel with this wording. Tirmidhi graded it sahih, no. 2092, as did Hakim, 4/333, 334, and Dhahabi. * Ibn Aqeel is daif, as mentioned earlier, no. 390.
