The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that a woman's paternal male relatives bear the responsibility for her blood-money, whoever they may be, but they inherit nothing from her except what remains after her heirs have taken their shares. If she is killed, her blood-money is divided among her heirs, and they are the ones who may demand the execution of her killer.

قضى رسول الله ﷺ أن يعقل المرأة عصبتها من كانوا ولا يرثوا منها شيئا إلا ما فضل عن ورثتها وإن قتلت فعقلها بين ورثتها فهم يقتلون قاتلها
