The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The hand is not to be cut off except for a quarter of a Dinar or more."
حدثنا أبو مروان العثماني حدثنا إبراهيم بن سعد عن ابن شهاب أن عمرة أخبرته
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا تقطع اليد إلا في ربع دينار فصاعدا
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Punishments, Chapter, the words of Allah Most High, "As for the male thief and the female thief, cut off their hands" [Maidah 5:38] and how much must be stolen for the hand to be cut off, hadith no. 6789, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Punishments, Chapter on the punishment for theft and its minimum threshold, hadith no. 1684, from the hadith of Ibrahim bin Saad with the same chain.
