The Prophet ﷺ cut off the hand of a thief for stealing a shield worth three dirhams.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن عبيد الله عن نافع
قطع النبي ﷺ في مجن قيمته ثلاثة دراهم
Muslim narrated it, Hudud, the previous chapter, no. 1686, from Ibn Abu Shayba with this same chain. Bukhari also narrated it, Hudud, the chapter on Allah's statement, "As for the male thief and the female thief, cut off their hands", and on how much is required for the hand to be cut, no. 6795, and Muslim and others narrated it from the hadith of Malik from Nafi with this same chain.
