Abyaz bin Hamal asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to grant him exclusive rights to the salt mine known as the salt of Sad Marib, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted it to him. Then Aqra bin Habis al-Tamimi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I used to visit that salt mine in the days before Islam. It lies in a land without water, and whoever comes to it takes from it. It is like flowing water that never runs dry."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Abyaz bin Hamal to release his claim over the salt mine.Abyaz said, "I release it to you on the condition that you make it a charity from me."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is a charity from you. It is like flowing water that never runs dry, whoever comes to it may take from it."Faraj said, "It remains so to this day, whoever comes to it takes from it." He said, "The Prophet ﷺ then granted him land and palm trees in al-Jawf, the Jawf of Murad, in place of what he had released."
