The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "On the night I was taken on the night journey, I saw written on the gate of Paradise, 'Charity is rewarded tenfold, and a loan eighteenfold.' So I asked, 'Jibreel, why is a loan superior to charity?' He replied, 'Because the beggar asks while he already has something, but the borrower seeks a loan only out of genuine need.'"

Graded, its chain of transmission is very daif. Ibn Adi reported it in al-Kamil 3/883 from the hadith of Hisham bin Khalid, with the same chain, and Busiri said, "This chain is daif." Ibn Hibban said regarding this hadith, "It is not sahih. Khalid bin Yazid has been criticized regarding what he narrates from his father." Ibn Main said, "He was not content merely to lie about his father, until he also lied about the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ" (Tahdhib).Part of this hadith has a corroborating narration in Tabarani 8/297, hadith 7976, and in Bayhaqi's Shuab al-Iman 3/284, hadith 3564, though its chain is also daif.
