The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no Muslim who lends another Muslim a loan twice except that it is like giving it in charity once."He said, "This is what Ibn Masud informed me."
حدثنا محمد بن خلف العسقلاني حدثنا يعلى حدثنا سليمان بن يسير عن قيس بن رومي قال كان سليمان بن أذنان يقرض علقمة ألف درهم إلى عطائه فلما خرج عطاؤه تقاضاها منه واشتد عليه فقضاه فكأن علقمة غضب فمكث أشهرا ثم أتاه فقال أقرضني ألف درهم إلى عطائي قال نعم وكرامة يا أم عتبة هلمي تلك الخريطة المختومة التي عندك فجاءت بها فقال أما والله إنها لدراهمك التي قضيتني ما حركت منها درهما واحدا قال فلله أبوك ما حملك على ما فعلت بي قال ما سمعت منك قال ما سمعت مني قال سمعتك تذكر
أن النبي ﷺ قال ما من مسلم يقرض مسلما قرضا مرتين إلا كان كصدقتها مرة قال كذلك أنبأني ابن مسعود

[Daif]Bayhaqi narrated it (5/353) from the hadith of Sulayman bin Yasir, in abridged form, and he said regarding Sulayman, Bukhari said, "He is not strong," and Qays is unknown, as stated in al-Taqrib, and the chain was graded daif by Busiri.Ahmad narrated it (1/412) with a hasan chain from Ibn Adhnan, with a similar meaning.Ibn Adhnan is obscure, and I did not find any reliable authentication for him.Bayhaqi narrated it through another route from Ibn Masud, similarly, as a marfu hadith, and he said, "Abdullah bin Husayn Abu Hurayz, the judge of Sijistan, narrated it alone, and he is not strong," with a gharib chain from Anas, as a marfu hadith, "Lending something is better than giving it as charity," and there is doubt about this because of Tamtam.
