The Prophet ﷺ borrowed thirty or forty thousand from him when he set out for the Battle of Hunayn. When he returned, he repaid him, then the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth. The reward for a loan is repayment and gratitude."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا وكيع
أن النبي ﷺ استلف منه حين غزا حنينا ثلاثين أو أربعين ألفا فلما قدم قضاها إياه ثم قال له النبي ﷺ بارك الله لك في أهلك ومالك إنما جزاء السلف الوفاء والحمد
[Its chain of transmission is hasan] Nasai narrated it in the Book of Sales, chapter on Borrowing, no. 4687, from the hadith of Ismail via this route, and Ahmad narrated it, 4/36, from Waki via this route.Ismail bin Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah was deemed trustworthy by Abu Dawud and Ibn Hibban, and his father is among the narrators of Bukhari, and Ibn Hibban also deemed him trustworthy. So their hadith does not fall below the level of hasan. Iraqi said, its chain of transmission is hasan (Ithaf as-Sadah al-Muttaqin, 5/114).
