The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at al-Khayf in Mina and said, "May Allah brighten the face of a man who hears my words and conveys them. Many a bearer of knowledge is not himself a scholar, and many a bearer of knowledge carries it to one who has greater understanding than he does."Ali bin Muhammad narrated to us, saying my maternal uncle Yala narrated to us. And Hisham bin Ammar narrated to us, saying Saeed bin Yahya narrated to us. They both said, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, from Zuhri, from Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mutim, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ, a similar report.
[Hasan] Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir, 2/127, no. 1542, from the hadith of Ibn Numayr, through the same chain. Ibn Ishaq used ambiguous transmission wording (anana), and his teacher Abdul-Salam bin Abu Al-Junub is daif, but the hadith has many corroborating narrations in Ahmad and elsewhere.
