The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever seeks the position of judge will be left to his own devices, but whoever is compelled to take it will have an angel descend upon him to guide him to what is right."
حدثنا علي بن محمد ومحمد بن إسمعيل قالا حدثنا وكيع حدثنا إسرائيل عن عبد الأعلى عن بلال بن أبي موسى
قال رسول الله ﷺ من سأل القضاء وكل إلى نفسه ومن جبر عليه نزل إليه آلك فسدده
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud transmitted it in the Book of Judgments, chapter on seeking judgeship and rushing to it, no. 3578, from the hadith of Israil, with this chain. Tirmidhi also transmitted it, no. 1323, and it has another chain in Tirmidhi, no. 1324, which he graded hasan. Both chains contain Abdul-Ala Thalabi, whose status has already been discussed, no. 1554.
