The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever is appointed a judge between people has been slaughtered without a knife."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا معلى بن منصور عن عبد الله بن جعفر عن عثمان بن محمد عن المقبري
عن النبي ﷺ قال من جعل قاضيا بين الناس فقد ذبح بغير سكين
[Its chain is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Judgments, chapter on seeking judgeship, hadith no. 3572, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Jafar, with this wording, and Hakim graded it sahih, 4/91, as did Dhahabi and Iraqi in Takhrij Ihya, 3/316, and it has corroborating narrations.
