Mukhrafa Abdi and I brought cloth from Hajar, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and bargained with us over a pair of trousers. We had a weigher who weighed for a fee, and the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Weigher, weigh and tip the scale in his favor."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وعلي بن محمد ومحمد بن إسمعيل قالوا حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان عن سماك بن حرب
جلبت أنا ومخرفة العبدي بزا من هجر فجاءنا رسول الله ﷺ فساومنا سراويل وعندنا وزان يزن بالأجر فقال له النبي ﷺ يا وزان زن وأرجح
[Sahih] Reported by Abu Dawud in his chapter on Sales, section titled "On giving extra weight and weighing for payment," hadith no. 3336, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri with this chain. Tirmidhi graded it sahih, hadith no. 1305, as did Ibn Hibban (Mawarid), hadith no. 1444, and Ibn Jarud. Sufyan was followed by Qays bin Rabi in narrating it, and the following hadith serves as a corroborating witness for it.
