The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade selling fruit until it begins to ripen, selling grapes until they turn black, and selling grain until it hardens.
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Reported by Abu Dawud in the chapters on Business Transactions, chapter on selling fruits before their soundness becomes apparent, hadith 3371, from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, through this route. Tirmidhi graded it hasan, hadith 1228, and Ibn Hibban and Hakim graded it sahih according to the criterion of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with them. I did not find an explicit statement that Humayd Tawil heard it directly, as mentioned earlier at hadith 866, so the chain is defective.
