The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to present himself to the people during the pilgrimage season, saying, "Is there no man who will take me to his people? For Quraysh have prevented me from conveying the words of my Lord."
حدثنا محمد بن يحيى حدثنا عبد الله بن رجاء حدثنا إسرائيل عن عثمان يعني ابن المغيرة الثقفي عن سالم بن أبي الجعد
كان رسول الله ﷺ يعرض نفسه على الناس في الموسم فيقول ألا رجل يحملني إلى قومه فإن قريشا قد منعوني أن أبلغ كلام ربي
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Sunnah, chapter on the Quran, no. 4734, and Tirmidhi narrated it, no. 2925, from the hadith of Israil with the same wording. Tirmidhi said, "hasan sahih and rare."Salim is mentioned among those known for concealing defects in transmission (second category), and this is not established from him. Allah knows best.
