The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever begs while he has enough to make him independent, his begging will appear on the Day of Resurrection as scratches, lacerations, or gashes on his face."Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, what amount makes one independent?"He replied, "Fifty dirhams, or their equivalent in gold."A man said to Sufyan, "Shuba does not narrate from Hakeem bin Jubayr."Sufyan replied, "Zubayd narrated it to us from Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid."
حدثنا الحسن بن علي الخلال حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا سفيان عن حكيم بن جبير عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ من سأل وله ما يغنيه جاءت مسألته يوم القيامة خدوشا أو خموشا أو كدوحا في وجهه قيل يا رسول الله وما يغنيه قال خمسون درهما أو قيمتها من الذهب فقال رجل لسفيان إن شعبة لا يحدث عن حكيم بن جبير فقال سفيان قد حدثناه زبيد عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in Zakat, chapter on who may be given from charity even if he has means, hadith 1626, from Hasan bin Ali through this route, and Tirmidhi graded it hasan, 650, while Nasai said, Hakeem is daif. Thawri engaged in a strange form of tadlis, for he narrated it from Zubayd from Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid as maqtu or mursal, and Allah knows best.
