Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Charity is not lawful for a wealthy person, nor for one who is sound and able-bodied."

[Sahih] Nasai narrated it, 5/99, Zakat, "If he has no dirhams but has their equivalent," no. 2597, from the hadith of Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, with this same wording. The hadith has very many corroborating narrations, among them what Abu Dawud narrated, 1634, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr, with this same wording, and Tirmidhi graded it hasan, no. 652.Hasan bin Ali Khallal narrated to us.
