The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who tears his garments, strikes his cheeks, and cries out with the calls of the days of ignorance."
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا وكيع ح و حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد وعبد الرحمن جميعا عن سفيان عن زبيد عن إبراهيم عن مسروق ح و حدثنا علي بن محمد وأبو بكر بن خلاد قالا حدثنا وكيع حدثنا الأعمش عن عبد الله بن مرة عن مسروق
قال رسول الله ﷺ ليس منا من شق الجيوب وضرب الخدود ودعا بدعوى الجاهلية
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Funerals, the chapter "He is not one of us who tears his garments," hadith 1294, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, from Zubayd, with this wording. Bukhari also reported it in hadith 3519, and Muslim reported it in the Book of Faith, the chapter on the prohibition of striking the cheeks, tearing garments, and invoking the calls of pre-Islamic ignorance, hadith 103, from the hadith of Amash, with this wording.
