A man said, "Messenger of Allah, I can hardly catch the prayer because of how long so-and-so makes it for us."I have never seen the Prophet ﷺ more angry in a sermon than he was that day. He said, "People, you are driving others away. Whoever leads the people in prayer, let him keep it short, for among them are the sick, the weak, and those with pressing needs."
حدثنا محمد بن كثير قال أخبرنا سفيان عن ابن أبي خالد عن قيس بن أبي حازم
قال رجل يا رسول الله لا أكاد أدرك الصلاة مما يطول بنا فلان فما رأيت النبي ﷺ في موعظة أشد غضبا من يومئذ فقال أيها الناس إنكم منفرون فمن صلى بالناس فليخفف فإن فيهم المريض والضعيف وذا الحاجة
