Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

A son was born to one of our men, and he named him Qasim. We said to him, "We will not honor you by calling you Abu al-Qasim." He informed the Prophet ﷺ of this, who said, "Name your son Abdul-Rahman."

ولد لرجل منا غلام فسماه القاسم فقلنا لا نكنيك أبا القاسم ولا كرامة فأخبر النبي ﷺ فقال سم ابنك عبد الرحمن
