The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out when the sun had passed its zenith and prayed Zuhr. Then he stood on the pulpit and spoke of the Hour, mentioning that great matters would occur during it. Then he said, "Whoever wishes to ask about anything, let him ask. You will not ask me about anything without my informing you, as long as I remain standing in this place of mine."The people wept profusely, and he kept saying, "Ask me."Then Abdullah bin Huzafa al-Sahmi stood up and asked, "Who is my father?"He replied, "Your father is Huzafa."Then he kept saying, "Ask me."Umar fell to his knees and said, "We are content with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Prophet."At that he fell silent. Then he said, "Paradise and the Fire were just now displayed to me along the surface of this wall, and I have never seen anything like good and evil."
حدثنا أبو اليمان قال أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري قال أخبرني
أن رسول الله ﷺ خرج حين زاغت الشمس فصلى الظهر فقام على المنبر فذكر الساعة فذكر أن فيها أمورا عظاما ثم قال من أحب أن يسأل عن شيء فليسأل فلا تسألوني عن شيء إلا أخبرتكم ما دمت في مقامي هذا فأكثر الناس في البكاء وأكثر أن يقول سلوني فقام عبد الله بن حذافة السهمي فقال من أبي قال أبوك حذافة ثم أكثر أن يقول سلوني فبرك عمر على ركبتيه فقال رضينا بالله ربا وبالإسلام دينا وبمحمد نبيا فسكت ثم قال عرضت علي الجنة والنار آنفا في عرض هذا الحائط فلم أر كالخير والشر
