Miswar bin Makhrama and Marwan bin Hakam reported,

The Prophet ﷺ set out in the year of Hudaybiyah with somewhat more than ten hundred of his Companions. When he reached Dhul Hulayfah, he garlanded the sacrificial animals, marked them, and entered the state of ihram from there for an Umra. He sent ahead a scout from Khuza, then the Prophet ﷺ traveled on until he was at Ghadir al-Ashtat, where his scout came to him and said, "Quraysh have gathered great forces against you, and they have rallied the Ahabish to their side. They mean to fight you, to bar you from the House, and to prevent you."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Advise me, people. Do you think I should turn toward the families and children of those who wish to bar us from the House? If they come out to meet us, Allah will have cut off a band of the polytheists. Otherwise, we will leave them stripped of their support."Abu Bakr said, "Messenger of Allah, you set out heading for this House, not seeking to kill anyone or to make war on anyone. So head toward it, and whoever bars us from it, we will fight him."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Move on, in the name of Allah."

حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد حدثنا سفيان قال سمعت الزهري حين حدث هذا الحديث حفظت بعضه وثبتني معمر عن عروة بن الزبير

عن المسور بن مخرمة ومروان بن الحكم يزيد أحدهما على صاحبه قالا

خرج النبي ﷺ عام الحديبية في بضع عشرة مائة من أصحابه فلما أتى ذا الحليفة قلد الهدي وأشعره وأحرم منها بعمرة وبعث عينا له من خزاعة وسار النبي ﷺ حتى كان بغدير الأشطاط أتاه عينه قال إن قريشا جمعوا لك جموعا وقد جمعوا لك الأحابيش وهم مقاتلوك وصادوك عن البيت ومانعوك فقال أشيروا أيها الناس علي أترون أن أميل إلى عيالهم وذراري هؤلاء الذين يريدون أن يصدونا عن البيت فإن يأتونا كان الله عز وجل قد قطع عينا من المشركين وإلا تركناهم محروبين قال أبو بكر يا رسول الله خرجت عامدا لهذا البيت لا تريد قتل أحد ولا حرب أحد فتوجه له فمن صدنا عنه قاتلناه قال امضوا على اسم الله
