I went out with Umar bin Khattab to the market when a young woman caught up with Umar and said, "Commander of the Faithful, my husband has died and left behind young children. By Allah, they have nothing fit to cook, no crops and no livestock, and I fear that hardship will consume them. I am the daughter of Khafaf bin Ima al-Ghifari, and my father was present at Hudaybiyyah with the Prophet ﷺ."Umar stopped with her and did not continue on. Then he said, "Welcome to a close kinship."He then went over to a strong camel that was tied up in the courtyard and loaded onto it two large sacks which he filled with food, placing between them money and clothing. He handed her its halter and said, "Lead it away. It will not run out before Allah brings you relief."A man said, "Commander of the Faithful, you have given her too much."Umar replied, "May your mother lose you. By Allah, I saw the father of this woman and her brother besiege a fortress for a long time and conquer it, and we went on to receive their shares of its spoils."
