Umar bin Khattab reported,

"Messenger of Allah, I had vowed during the days of ignorance to observe itikaf for one day." The Prophet ﷺ instructed him to fulfill his vow.Umar received two slave girls as part of his share from the captives of Hunayn, and he placed them in one of the houses of Mecca. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted freedom to the captives of Hunayn, and they began rushing through the streets.Umar said, "Abdullah, go and see what is happening."Abdullah replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has freed the captives."Umar said, "Go and release the two slave girls."Nafi said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not perform umrah from al-Jiranah. Had he done so, it would not have been hidden from Abdullah."Jareer bin Hazim added in his narration from Ayub, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, that the two slave girls were from the one-fifth share of the spoils. Muamar also narrated it from Ayub, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, regarding the vow, but he did not mention "one day."
