Hakeem bin Hizam reported,

I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he gave to me. Then I asked him again and he gave to me. Then he said to me, "Hakeem, this wealth is sweet and green. Whoever takes it with a generous heart will be blessed in it, but whoever takes it with a greedy heart will not be blessed in it, and he will be like one who eats but is never satisfied. The upper hand is better than the lower hand."Hakeem said, "I replied, 'Messenger of Allah, by the One who sent you with the truth, I will never accept anything from anyone after you until I depart this world.'"Later, Abu Bakr would summon Hakeem to give him his share, but he would refuse to accept anything from him. Then Umar summoned him to give him his share, and he again refused to accept it.Umar said, "Company of Muslims, I am offering him his rightful share that Allah has allotted him from this spoils, but he refuses to take it."Hakeem never accepted anything from anyone after the Prophet ﷺ until he died.
