Umar saw a fine garment being sold and said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Buy this garment so you can wear it on Fridays and when delegations come to visit you."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this."Later, some garments of this kind were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he sent one of them to Umar.Umar said, "How can I wear it when you said about it what you said?"The Prophet ﷺ answered, "I did not give it to you so that you would wear it. You can sell it or give it as clothing to someone else."So Umar sent it to a brother of his among the people of Mecca, before that man had embraced Islam.

رأى عمر حلة على رجل تباع فقال للنبي ﷺ ابتع هذه الحلة تلبسها يوم الجمعة وإذا جاءك الوفد فقال إنما يلبس هذا من لا خلاق له في الآخرة فأتي رسول الله ﷺ منها بحلل فأرسل إلى عمر منها بحلة فقال عمر كيف ألبسها وقد قلت فيها ما قلت قال إني لم أكسكها لتلبسها تبيعها أو تكسوها فأرسل بها عمر إلى أخ له من أهل مكة قبل أن يسلم
