Ayesha reported,

Ayesha reported, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was lying down in my house with his thighs, or his shins, uncovered. Abu Bakr asked permission to enter, and he granted it while remaining in that state, and they conversed. Then Umar asked permission to enter, and he granted it while still in that state, and they conversed. Then Uthman asked permission to enter, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat up and adjusted his clothing." Muhammad said, "I do not claim this all happened on the same day." Uthman then entered and they conversed. After he left, Ayesha said, "Abu Bakr came in and you did not stir for him or pay him special attention. Then Umar came in and you did not stir for him or pay him special attention. Then Uthman came in and you sat up and straightened your clothes."He replied, "Should I not feel shy before a man whom even the angels feel shy before?"

Sahih
