Huzaifa bin Yaman reported,

We were with Umar when he asked, "Which of you remembers what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about the trial as he stated it?"I said, "I do."He said, "You are bold indeed. How did he put it?"I replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'A man's trial lies in his family, his wealth, himself, his children, and his neighbor. Fasting, prayer, charity, enjoining good, and forbidding evil expiate it.'"Umar said, "This is not what I mean. I mean the trial that surges like the waves of the sea."I said, "What have you to do with that, Commander of the Faithful? Between you and it stands a locked door."He asked, "Will the door be broken or opened?"I said, "No, it will be broken."He said, "Then it is more fitting that it never be closed again."We said to Hudhayfah, "Did Umar know who the door was?"He answered, "Yes, as surely as he knew that night precedes the next day. I told him a report free of error."We were too in awe to ask Hudhayfah who the door was, so we said to Masruq, "Ask him." He asked him, and Hudhayfah said, "Umar."
