The Prophet ﷺ said, "There was never a prophet except that within his community there was one or two who received divine inspiration, and if there is anyone of that kind in my community, it is Umar bin Khattab. Truly, the truth is upon Umar's tongue and in his heart."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: ما كان نبي قط إلا في أمته معلم أو معلمان، وإن يكن في أمتي منهم أحد فهو عمر بن الخطاب، إن الحق على لسان عمر وقلبه.
Qutaii related it in his additions to Fadail al-Sahabah (518), and Tabarani in al-Awsat (9133), both through the route of Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zinad, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abu Atiq, from his father, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan, for all the narrators in the chain other than the companion have hasan hadith. Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zinad's hadith in Madinah is hasan, for Muhammad bin Ismail bin Abu Fudayk narrated from him, and he was a Madinan, as noted in Fadail al-Sahabah (518).Muhammad bin Abu Atiq is Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Atiq. Daraqutni deemed him reliable, as mentioned in Suwalat al-Hakim, and Dhuhli graded him hasan, as mentioned in Tahdhib. As for Ibn Hajar, he said, "Acceptable." But the correct view is that he was truthful.Tariq bin Shihab said, "We used to say that tranquility descends upon the tongue of Umar." Ibn Abu Shayba related it (32674) from Yahya bin Abu Bukayr, who said, Shuba narrated to us, from Qays bin Muslim, from Tariq bin Shihab, who said, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is sahih.
